Because the IT market sector is still developing at an unprecedented rate, it's predictable that the search for appropriately qualified IT professionals will flourish for decades to come.

Proficient user skills can be developed through particular 'Microsoft' accreditation paths, & professional support skill-sets through others. To find out about 'Office' 2003 (XP) check out MOS - 'Microsoft Office Specialist'. For Office 2007 (Vista) skill-sets opt for 'MCAS' - Microsoft Certified Application Specialist. The MCDST ('Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician') takes this to the next level, so that you are certified to support other people.

You may equally be contemplating a more senior job in the I.T. field, that would mean more in depth & technical MS certification study. In a bid to upgrade their skilled professional accreditation programs, 'Microsoft' have fairly recently re-designed a number of their examinations. 'Microsoft Certified IT Professional' ('MCITP') and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist ('MCTS') are now being brought in, though many Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) examinations are still current. 'MCTS' learning programs are generally worked on as building-blocks towards the MCITP.

Your training program should always include the latest Microsoft (or Cisco, CompTIA etc.) authorised exam preparation and simulation materials. Make sure that your practice exams are not only asking questions from the right areas, but ask them in the same way that the proper exam will formulate them. It completely unsettles students if they're met with completely different formats and phraseologies. Simulations and practice exams will prove enormously valuable as a tool for logging knowledge into your brain - so much so, that at the proper exam, you will be much more relaxed.

Of all the important things to consider, one of the most essential is always full 24x7 support through trained professional instructors and mentors. It's an all too common story to find providers that only provide support to you inside of office hours (typically 9am-6pm) and sometimes a little earlier or later (but not weekends usually). You'll be waiting ages for an answer with email based support, and phone support is usually just a call-centre who will take the information and email an instructor - who will call back over the next day or so (assuming you're there), at a time suitable for them. This is not a lot of use if you're sitting there confused over an issue and only have a specific time you can study.

We recommend that you search for providers that incorporate three or four individual support centres from around the world. Every one of them needs to be seamlessly combined to provide a single interface as well as 24x7 access, when it suits you, without any problems. Never settle for a lower level of service. Direct-access round-the-clock support is the only kind to make the grade with computer-based learning. Maybe late-evening study is not your thing; but for most of us, we're working at the time when most support is available.
